painful convictions

i am convinced that
i will forever suffer from this disease
my depression may fade at times
but it will always return
i am convinced that
i deserve to suffer through this pain
which is why i want no pills
and i'm too afraid to seek help
i am convinced that
everything could go right for once
and i would still hurt
just as much as ever before
i am convinced that
even being reunited with a friend
and ending the silent hell
may just help my hope to finally return
i am convinced that
hope is my sole defense against the pain
if only, it were a cure
and not just a defense
